The match between Gimnasia de La Plata and Boca Juniors, corresponding to the Argentine Professional Soccer League, in the city of La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires, was suspended last Thursday night in the ninth minute due to serious disturbances provoked at the entrances to the stadium by fans who could not enter.
The police intervened by firing rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse these fans. The gases entered the field of play, affecting spectators and athletes. A 57-year-old man died and several attendees received impacts from rubber bullets and other injuries, for which they had to be hospitalized.
The Justice of La Plata investigates the violent repression of the police of the province of Buenos Aires and if there was an overselling of tickets, something that the club denies. The Minister of Security of the province of Buenos Aires, Sergio Berni, quoted by Ephacknowledged this Friday that the police resolved the situation “in the worst way”, but denied responsibility for the police operation.

The provincial government removed from office the head of the police operation and the policemen identified in the videos of the repression.
