The star of Paris SG Kylian Mbappé will be the highest paid footballer on the planet this season, displacing his partner, the Argentine Lionel Messi, according to the annual Forbes ranking published this Friday.
The French striker, world champion in 2018 with the Blues, should win $128 million this season, counting his income from PSG and others from advertising contracts, before taxes and agent fees. A record for this sportaccording to specialized media.
For the first time since 2014, it is neither Messi -second on this list with 120 million dollars- nor the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, third with 100 million dollarsthe one who ranks highest among the richest footballers.
The two superstars were already in their 30s when they crossed the 100 million annual income mark for the first time in 2018.
Instead, Mbappé more than achieves it with only 23 years. Only the top three account for more than half of the record total of $652 million in income, which comprise the ten highest salaries in world football.
Last year the top-10 accumulated 585 million dollars, so the increase is 11%.
Mbappewhich decided in May to renew with Paris until 2025, will receive during the current fiscal year 2022/2023 approximately 110 million dollars between his salary and part of his signing bonus, Forbes estimates.
This quantity adds to $18 million in off-field earningswith its various sponsorships (Nike, Dior, Hublot, Oakley, Panini, the FIFA video game).
