Santo Domingo.- The Office for the Reorganization of Transport (Opret), informs that the service in the Santo Domingo Metro will be suspended this Sunday on Line 1, due to the remodeling and expansion works that are being carried out.
The area that the Metro raises is the part affected by the interruption starting on the 9th, from 6 in the morning, until 10 at night at the Hermanas Mirabal and Mama Tingó stations.
Opret said that also to maintain security, the electrical service will also be affected in the intervened areas at different times that the work is carried out.
The institution, through a statement, stated that the provision is to protect the residents of the area and prevent them from being in danger.

According to Opret, with the expansion project, a greater capacity will be reproduced in the transport service for a better operation in the 6-car trains instead of 3, as until now.
In addition, the works to be carried out in this stage include the roofing of the stations, interior painting, placement of floors, platform edges and other finishes.
At the exit of the Metro, in its place, the WHO buses will be providing this service to users who move in that area in an alternative way.
Likewise, the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transport (Digesett) will have an operation to maintain order in transit.
