New accident leaves another Nicaraguan migrant dead and five injured

The Texas Nicaragua Community (TNC) reported this Friday of a new traffic accident occurred in Mexico, in which a Nicaraguan migrant died and another five were injured.

This would be the second accident in less than 48 hours that leaves the Nicaraguan population in mourning, which is experiencing a strong wave of migration to the United States.

As reported by the Public Ministry to TNC, the accident occurred in Sabinas, state of Coahuila at about eight o’clock in the morning on Friday, October 7. for now The name of the person who died is unknown..

The names of the injured are: Leonel Santiago Rosales Castro, 23 years old; Eyra Tamara Casc, 22 years old; Esmeralda Dayana Cruz Jaime, 24 years old; Hector Geovani Martinez Obando, 36 years old and Elvis Josue Rodríguez Romero, 25 years old.

The first four Nicaraguan migrants are stablebut the last one is in serious condition with severe polytrauma and his critical condition, they reported through his Facebook page.

Bodies of deceased migrants identified this Thursday

The bodies of three of the Nicaraguans who died this Thursday, October 6, in a traffic accident in the state of Veracruz, were unofficially identified by NTC.

According to reports, they are Jubehyling Rachel Barrera Urbina, Óscar Danilo Flores and Francisco Javier Zamora García.

Initially, NTC reported that the other deceased was Sherwin Jacob Garcia Medina. However, his family clarified that he “lost his passport on the day of the accident and there is confusion with a body, since the young man is reported alive, with blows but alive”, they pointed out.

The National Migration Institute (INM) of Mexico reported that they will support the families of deceased migrants with repatriation costs.

“INM agents went to the hospital to find out the state of health of the injured and verify their nationality; it was confirmed that they are originally from Nicaragua and it is aware of the evolution, ”they reported in a press release.

Due to the accident, there were eleven Nicaraguans injured, seven of whom were taken to hospitals in the area. The injured were identified as: Carlos Uriel Galeano Reyes, 27 years old, Luis Miguel Araica, 28 years old, José Luis Velázquez Reyes, 37 years old; Jony Bermúdez Quiroz, 44 years old, Marci Gabriela Miranda Ortiz, 33 years old; Dani Arnobiz Ponele Castaño, 33 years old and Nelson Abedi Núñez Cruz, 31 years old.

According to the local media Consulta.com Veracruz, the migrants were traveling in a cream-colored 2006 Ford Expedition van with license plates YLT528A. They also reported that the bodies of the deceased were scattered on the road and there were several injured were pressed in the vehicle.

Despite the fact that Nicaragua suffers from this migratory wave, pushed by the social and political crisis, the Government of Daniel Ortega has not spoken and rather its officials ignore requests to repatriate bodies.

TNC pointed out that the diplomat Samuel Trejos, Nicaraguan consul in Houston, Texas, has not taken the necessary steps to send the bodies of five Nicaraguan migrants who died in their attempt to reach the United States.

The bodies of these migrants are more than 80 days old in a Laredo morgue and even several of the relatives of these already have funeral homes paid, but they cannot proceed with repatriation without consular support.
