A Subcontracted bus for the transfer of workers from the UPM plant in Fray Bentos (Río Negro) It caught fire this Friday afternoon. It happened in front of the plant, while the vehicle was in the access control to the place.
At the time of the fire there were no people inside, and there were no injuries. The bus was parked and the driver trying to find a fault together with another person, at times when took fire, close to the hour 17:20.
They tried to turn off the light, without success. Consequently, they notified the local firefighters, whose brigade extinguished the flames. At first they tried to put out the fire with water, and later they succeeded with foam, they detailed to The Observer from Firefighters.
The affectation of the unit is total in the passenger sector, but not in the cargo part.
From the company UPM they informed The Observer that the bus belongs to the company Homer Demasi, and was outside the industrial estate. “The UPM plant fire brigade activated their protocol quickly. The damage was only the materials of the bus. At the moment they are doing research about how the event started,” he said in a statement.
