Maduro orders "attend to the people" after rains that affected 120 municipalities in the country

The ruler Nicolás Maduro pointed out, this Thursday, October 6, that thanks to the preventive measures that, he assures, his administration has deployed, the damage caused by the heavy rainfall has not been greater. 120 municipalities in the country were affected by the rains. National government says it is ready to strengthen Civil Protection in the states


The governor Nicholas Maduro pointed out, this Thursday, October 6, that thanks to the preventive measures that, he assures, his administration has deployed, the damage caused by the strong rainy that have occurred in the country have not been greater.

He said that since he came to power nine years ago, rains of such intensity had not been seen.

“The power went out in our house too, but they replaced it in 14 minutes, well the neighbors,” he said.

Maduro led, this Thursday night, a work meeting in which a balance was made and the reports of ministers and governors were received on the situation generated by the rainfall of the last hours.

He highlighted the work carried out by the People’s power and the military power to address the situation generated by the rains.

During the meeting, the government reported that there are 120 municipalities in the country affected by the rains.

Maduro referred that, for this year 2022, it is estimated that there will be 65 tropical waves in the country: “We are at tropical wave 41, 65 are calculated. Climate change is undoubtedly reflected.”

“The town is not orphaned. This people has someone who takes care of it, who supports it, who wants it, this people has a government, this people has a President,” Maduro said.

He added that, in the now distant Fourth Republic, the oligarchy did not serve the people.

In this sense, he assured that the government will provide support “in real time” and that the resources of the Rain Fund are available in the face of any eventuality. In turn, he instructed vice presidents of government, ministers, ministers, governors and mayors to guarantee the attention of the people.

The Minister of the Interior and Justice, Remigio Ceballossaid that the Emergency Fund is planned to serve the regions, support the governors, strengthen Civil Protection (PC) and firefighters in the states, as well as the supplies and equipment that is required.

During the meeting with Nicolás Maduro, the government reported that, in Caracas, there are reports of 106 incidents. It treats 35 landslides, 32 fallen trees, 21 areas with affected electrical service, and 25 families with affected homes in La Vega.

Mayor Carmen Meléndez pointed out that 32 trees fell, but there were no victims. However, two electricity tubes fell and electricity was affected in 21 sectors of Caracas.

Likewise, Meléndez informed Maduro that there are officials deployed to collect, remove and clean sediment and debris from 35 landslides that occurred this Thursday and attend to other incidents.

For his part, the governor of Miranda, Hector Rodriguez, affirmed that the state registers affectation of 26 roads, 18 fallen trees, 9 landslides, and 19 houses affected, five of which present total loss), while five walls have collapsed.

Maduro reviews situation in regions

In the state of Falcón, there are 115 homes affected by flooding, and 14 municipalities affected by isolation from roads. The regional government, headed by Víctor Clark, decreed a ban on sailing.

In Aragua, as was known in the meeting with Maduro, the preventive closure of Choroní was decreed. Governor Karina Carpio expressed that more than 3,500 Civil Protection, National Guard (GN) officials and other State agencies have been deployed.

“Of the 28 municipalities that make up this territory, the most affected was the Girardot municipality. We still do not have a census of events, we are waiting for the waters to recede,” said the governor of Aragua, Karina Carpio.

The Maduro government reported that it is working to open the way on the Puerto Cabello highway and attend to the emergency due to rains in Carabobo.

Likewise, in the meeting with Maduro, it was announced that, in Trujillo, there is 12 municipalities affected by the rains. In the entity were deployed more than 1,000 officials from the National Armed Forces (FAN) Civil Protection (PC), mayors and the government.
