The Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, supervised the progress of the remediation plan in the Rio Negro area affected by the spill that occurred on December 10, between the Crucero Catriel and Medanito pumping stations, on the pipeline that transports the oil produced in the Neuquén Basin to Buenos Aires .
“From the Ministry of Energy we are closely following the actions carried out regarding the sanitation and remediation of the affected site,” said Martínez in a statement released this Saturday.
“This is the second time we have toured the affected area supervising the corresponding corrective measures,” he added.
In addition to the actions on the affected land, the company Oldeval -in charge of the works- reported that The section of the pipe that was the cause of the accident was removed and moved to GIE, a laboratory in Mar del Plata, and later it will be sent to another in the United States.
There, a series of material resistance tests will be carried out, and what is sought is to verify if the accident was due to a material problem, some corrosion, if it was a problem with the seam of that section, or if it was due to some other cause.
In this second tour of the affected area The Secretary of Energy had a meeting on the spot with Oldelval’s technical and managerial referents, and subsequently the affected soil extraction tasks were controlled and supervised, collection and transfer. Likewise, the replacement of the pipe piece that suffered the break was verified, as reported.
The Secretary of Energy was accompanied by the Undersecretary of Hydrocarbons, Maggie Videla, technicians and authorities from Oldelval, the official statement concluded.
