General Ulises Guillén, head of the Police Directorate against Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling, told Associated Press that from January to the beginning of October, police operations have found more Venezuelan women than Peruvian victims of this crime.
According to figures sent to AP, 589 Venezuelans were rescued, of which 28 were minors.
The police also rescued 221 Peruvians, 100 Ecuadorians, 14 Colombians, three Bolivians, one Dominican and one Argentine.

As a result of the police actions, the Directorate of Trafficking in Persons and Illicit Smuggling of Migrants of the National Police of Peru (DIRCTPTIM) arrested 118 people, with 71 people intervened of Peruvian nationality and 45 of foreign nationality.
In addition, two people requested by the Peruvian justice system were arrested.
Lima leads the list of regions with the highest number of victims rescued by the crime of human trafficking. They are followed by Puno, Madre de Dios, Cusco and Arequipa.
