The debate on the Draft Law for the Reform of the Decree with Rank, Value and Force of Law of the Insurance Activity, advanced this Thursday in the third discussion during the session of the National Assembly.
So far, parliamentarians have modified up to article number 124, out of a total of 146 that make up the current instrument.
In its first discussion, the Venezuelan parliament agreed to modify articles 9, 11, 17 and 21 of the current law, and eliminate articles 12 and 18.
In this Thursday’s session from the Protocol Chamber of the Federal Legislative Palace, in Caracas, continuity was agreed for a next debate in plenary for Tuesday, October 18.
Earlier, deputy Fernando Bastidas, member of the Permanent Commission of Economy, Finance and National Development of the AN, in an interview for Globovisión, highlighted that this reform seeks to invigorate and strengthen the sector.
He emphasized that the insurance industry as part of the national financial system, it must adapt to the new economic reality of the country.
The reform of the legal instrument also seeks to promote the insurance activity of investments by natural and legal persons in the country, as well as to strengthen the activities carried out in the Special Economic Zones (ZEE).
In addition, among its points it proposes to provide training and technical assistance to cooperative associations by the Superintendence of Insurance Activity.
