NEW YORK.- The Commissioner of Transportation (DOT) of this city, Dominican Ydanis Rodríguez, accompanied Princess Anne of England this Tuesday during a tour of the Staten Island Ferry, which is under his jurisdiction.
The sister of Britain’s King Charles III was led to the ferry by Rodriguez as the Manhattan-bound ship crossed New York Harbor, escorted by New York police boats.
A fireboat greeted the ferry with a water display just before docking.
The ferry ride came after the princess toured the Staten Island National Lighthouse Museum. The visit included the unveiling of a miniature figure of the Needles Lighthouse on the Isle of Wight in memory of her parents.
Princess Anne, the only daughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, attended a lunch in Manhattan after the ferry ride and praised the lighthouse museum in a speech.
