Mexican Economy Minister Tatiana Clouthier said on Thursday (6) that she is stepping down, announcing her decision alongside President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Tatiana, who became economy minister in early 2021, read aloud a letter outlining her decision, although it was not immediately clear why she was stepping down.
Neither Tatiana nor the president immediately named a potential successor.
“We respect her decision,” López Obrador said. “We insisted that she stay, but she is a woman with convictions.”
