The Vice Minister of Risk Management and National Director of Civil Protection and Disaster Administration, Carlos Pérez Ampueda, reported that due to the collapse of the Chama River in Zulia state, there are 47 sectors and 5,000 families affected.
“We are attending to the latest emergencies that have been registered in the 5 affected municipalities in the south of the Lake,” he said this Wednesday, October 5, in an interview with Unión Radio.

He reported that there is an operation by the Territorial Defensive System, and the National Risk Management System deployed in the Colón municipality attending to emergencies, “there are 100 officials and troops.” He mentioned that four triage tents and 10 shelters have been set up to serve affected families in the sector, delivering hammocks, medical supplies and food.
He commented that the Catatumbo River overflowed and there was a collapse. “The Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of the Interior and Justice, and all the national risk systems are working on the containment bags to avoid any inconvenience,” he pointed out.
On the subject of the consequences of the rains, the deputy to the 2020 National Assembly, Juan Romero, asserted that in the state of Trujillo there are four affected parishes, in the state of Mérida there are landslides on the road, and in the state of Bolívar there are four. affected municipalities, “this is due to the entry and exit of water, landslides, collapses in homes due to the rain,” Romero said.
