The National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) announced that tomorrow, Thursday, October 6, they will not attend the meeting that will begin the second phase of the dialogue for Panama.
This was stated by the president of the union, Rubén Castillo, when stating that they will maintain this position until they have equal conditions.
The Conep reiterated that they are willing to participate in any dialogue exercise that tends to seek solutions to the country’s problems, as long as the conditions that determine it are equal for all parties and have the minimum rules of an exercise of this type. , which translates into the construction of consensus on issues such as preparation of the work agenda, establishment of the methodology and selection of the facilitator. On the other hand, it is of vital importance that there is the possibility of discussing and evaluating the agreements signed in phase I of the dialogue.
In a press conference, CoNEP reaffirmed that the National Council for the Coordination for Development is the legitimate, representative space, which has a methodology and monitoring verification system in which issues of national interest must be addressed. They highlighted that the discussions of the various thematic tables are currently advancing in the search for consensus that will allow the search for real and viable alternatives to challenges in terms of food security, education and health, among others.
Social Security Fund: On a permanent basis, CoNEP, through its representatives on the Board of Directors of the Social Security Fund and through its participation in the various spaces for dialogue, has made specific reform proposals for both the administrative structure of the Social Security Fund (CSS) as well as for the Disability, Old Age and Death program (IVM); for the latter, it has presented a proposal based on three pillars that will allow it to face over time the serious challenges it faces today.
As part of this effort, the CoNEP will hold the Social Security Fund Forum: Present and Future this coming Friday, October 14, in which the challenges it faces in terms of institutional administration, provision of medical services and financial sustainability in its programs will be analyzed. of pensions, as well as real alternatives that allow responding to them.
