Daniela Rodríguez won the gold medal in Taekwondo, Poomsae modality, at the Asunción 2022 South American Games, being the first gold medal for Panama in these games.

Rodríguez defeated Fernanda Melillo from Venezuela in her first quarterfinal match with a score of 7.17 against the 7.04 that Melillo did.

Her next rival was Carmela De La Barra from Peru in the semifinals, where she won by beating her 7.26 – 7.08 to advance to the gold medal final.

In the final, she faced Margarita Echeverría from Argentina, achieving a close victory from 7.27 to 7.21 in her favor and taking the gold medal.

Poomsae is a combination of defenses and attacks, executed in a line of movements against various imaginary opponents. They show the essence and art of taekwondo. Each poomsae has a philosophical connotation that reflects the ancient tradition of the Korean people.
