They add up to 40.5 tons of drugs seized so far this year

Zulia, Falcón, Bolívar, Apure and Sucre account for 93.93% of the total drug seized in 2022

So far this year, the different security agencies have seized 40,459 kilos with 322 grams of various drugs, reported Major General Richard López Vargas, head of the National Anti-Drug Superintendence (Sunad).

This means an increase of 21.22% in seizures compared to the same period (January-October) last year, interpreted the military.

The senior official traveled to Falcón and declared to the media from Detachment 131 of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) located in Punto Fijo. There he reported on the seizure of 504 marijuana panels and 60 cocaine for a total of 468 kilos with 792 grams of drugs.

Those 40.4 tons of drugs that accumulate during 10 months, were seized through 5,336 procedures carried out throughout the country, where 6,970 people were arrested, including 64 foreigners.

Of the 24 entities, five concentrate 93.93% of the total drug seized during this year: Zulia (29.3 tons), Falcon (4.6), Bolívar (1.7), Apure (1.5) and Sucre (677). The GNB is the agency with the largest seizures, adding 39.2 tons, that is, 96.93% of the total, López Vargas said.
