Cubans ask Ana de Armas to denounce the repression on the Island

na de Armas, cubanos, represión

MADRID, Spain.- After the Internet user @ElRuso4k raised the possibility that the actress Ana de Armas would take advantage of the worldwide success that she is experiencing these days to denounce and give visibility to the repression that is being experienced on the Island, the Cubans did not take long in reacting.

“How good it would be if Ana de Armas, who right now is the most international and most visible Cuban, spoke about the repression and brutal dictatorship that her country is experiencing,” he said in Twitter @ElRuso4k.

In comments to the publication, which has been shared more than 150 times and has almost 3,000 likes, many Cubans supported this idea.

“Keep eyes on Cuba but be safe, hopefully when you receive the Oscar you will do it”, “It would be good if there was a voice about what is happening in Cuba. She is the most followed Cuban right now”; “If you raise your voice, it would be to make the situation of our country recognized worldwide”; read in the comments.

However, others doubt that he will rule on the matter, alleging that De Armas does not usually speak about the situation in Cuba.

Some recalled that he did not do so when his brother, the photographer Javier Caso, was on a hunger strike.

“He didn’t say anything even when G2 squeezed his brother”, “they touched his brother and he didn’t say anything…. imagine for the others”, they thought.

Last September, Ana de Armas was applauded for 14 minutes after the world premiere, at the Venice Film Festival, of the film Blondeproduced by Netflix, where the Cuban plays the actress and cultural icon Marilyn Monroe.

Blonde is an adaptation of the homonymous novel by the writer Joyce Carol Oates, which mixes real and fictional data to delve into the obsessions and traumatic life of Norma Jean, the real name of Marilyn Monroe.
