Mexican actor Pablo Lyle was found guilty on Tuesday of involuntary manslaughter for the death of Juan Ricardo Hernández, 63, of Cuban origin, in events dating back to 2019.
Lyle, 35, had told Judge Marisa Tinkler Méndez, in charge of the case in the Miami-Dade Criminal Court, that on his own initiative and on the advice of his lawyers, he would not testify at the hearing.
The Mexican actor, known for his performance in soap operas such as “Adorable curse”, clarified that his decision was not subject to any pressure.
The jury, made up of 6 people, reached its conclusion after the prosecutor Gabriela Alfaro repeated the words “please do not hurt me”, supposedly the last of Hernández before falling to the ground to death.
The actor’s attorneys maintained that Lyle acted in self-defense and again petitioned, again unsuccessfully, for the case to be dismissed under Florida’s self-defense law.
