Deputies of the Venezuelan parliament approved this Tuesday a Draft Agreement on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Cantaura Massacre, where 23 revolutionaries lost their lives at the hands of the security forces of the government in power.
Deputy Ali Alejandro Primero read the Agreement and recalled that on a day like today the most bloodthirsty and brutal act of the Fourth Republic was carried out.
“There is no act lower than attacking the common forces through the violation of their human rights by the judicial forces. a chubby character and the President of the Republic at that time gave the execution for the murder of brave girls and boys”, he said.
He stressed that Cantaura is not just a historical fact, “it was a showcase for the people to see how any attempt or popular uprising against what would be Black Friday would be crushed,” he recalled.
For her part, the deputy, Blanca Eekhout, stressed that what happened on April 8, 1982 was an unjustifiable act of a government that violated the human rights of a defenseless population.
“It is unjustifiable that there should be any doubt it was a massacre against a people, and we must prevent these criminals from ruling our people again. In the year 82 that massacre took place and it was only the beginning of Black Friday. Ten years after Cantaura, Chavez’s soldiers rose up and that is true justice”, he stated.
The deputies agreed to commemorate October 4 as a national date and recognize the 23 deceased as heroes of the country, in addition to incorporating information about the genocidal operation into the ranks of the military and police forces to serve as practices that must be banished Finally, they asked the Prosecutor’s Office to continue the investigations of this fact.
