Caixa’s president, Daniella Marques, informed today (4) that, as of the second half of October, the public bank intends to present rates below the 3.5% ceiling, defined for payroll loans that will be guaranteed by future installments of the Aid. Brazil. The measure will be accompanied by an action to make beneficiaries aware of the risk of borrowing.
“We are working to prioritize Auxílio Brasil consigned credit”, said the president of Caixa, remembering that, in many cases, this resource is used by families with the objective of “buying products to sell; to invest [em algum negócio]; or to pay off debt.
To enable interest rates lower than the 3.5% stipulated for payroll loans via Auxílio Brasil, Daniella Marques said that the Risk and Governance area “is finishing the modelling” that will allow the bank to operate at rates below this ceiling.
“And we are going to make people aware to exchange more expensive debt for a cheaper one”, added Daniella, remembering that there will be a limit of R$ 160 for the specific contracting of payroll-deductible credit.
She informed that Caixa is preparing an “action for conscientious credit”, so as not to encourage even greater indebtedness of families. “We have to be aware that a good part of these families or people are already in debt, especially in the credit card revolving, where the rates are much higher.”
The president of Caixa updated some figures related to Auxílio Brasil. According to Daniella, the total number of families benefiting from the program is already at 21.13 million. The next installment of R$ 600 will be paid on October 11th.
Pink October
Taking advantage of the October Rosa motto, the month in which breast cancer is called attention, Daniella called a press conference to also talk about Caixa’s and the government’s actions aimed at the female audience.
Under Auxílio Brasil, more than 80% of families are headed by women. “There are around 17 million unique beneficiaries”, said the president of Caixa, who also mentioned actions developed within the scope of the “Caixa para Elas” strategy, to support female entrepreneurship. The initiative also includes the adoption of physical spaces for women, aimed at providing guidance on combating violence and preventing breast cancer, for example.
“Since August 9, more than 80,000 women have been welcomed into the physical spaces of the agencies”, said Daniella Marques, remembering that there are also virtual spaces focused on the female audience. “We recorded more than 26 million hits on the Caixa para Elas app.”
