Questioning. Rafael López Aliaga, virtual mayor of Lima after the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections, ruled out a possible meeting with the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo, who was asked to resign “for the good of Peru”.
For her part, Congresswoman Margot Palacios, of Free Perudescribed as “confrontational” Lopez Aliaga’s statements. Likewise, through his Twitter account, she warned that these types of messages would try to add to the Municipality of Lima a coup plan.
“Bad confrontational start from mayor-elect Rafael Lopez Aliaga. His statement aims to add the Municipality (of Lima) to the coup conspiracy. But, deep down, what it does is open the floodgate of its own recall,” he wrote.

Rafael López Aliaga asks Pedro Castillo to resign from the presidency
Rafael López Aliaga insisted on requesting the departure of Pedro Castillo from the presidency. This, after knowing the results issued by ONPE, which place it in first place with more than 26% of valid votes.
“I would ask Mr. (Pedro) Castillo to resign once and for all for the good of Peru. I have traveled through Lima for more than 10 months, they have seen me every day, people are not eating, if before they sold 100, now they sell 40 or 30. The damage is the lack of trust. When there is no trust there is no investment. When there is no investment there is no work. And when there is no work, there is no consumption: that is how simple the economy is”, he declared to the press.
In this sense, the leader of People’s Renewal argued that I would “never” accept an invitation from Castillo Terrones to the Government Palace. Next, he exhorted the head of state to “seek refuge in another country so that they do not persecute him”. “You can’t (a meeting with peter castle) because structurally it is impossible”, he added.
