The National Movement for Trade Union Transformation (MNTS) of the National Union of Education Workers (SNTE) rejected the statements made by the general secretary, Alfonso Cepeda, who now he presents himself as a democratic leader and says he fights for the rights of the union
.
In a statement, this wing of the teachers’ union affirmed that the national leader -in statements to the day— now says to question the government of Enrique Peña Nieto and the educational reform that he promoted, as well as the Unit of the System for the Career of Teachers, but he does not defend the workers of the sector, since his group promoted that reform harmful
to the interests of teachers.
“Surely he will talk about the ‘democratic feats of his union’, like the ones they have been carrying out in all the sectional processes. All that remains is for him to lead a mega-march and a national strike”, he pointed out.
The MNTS added that Cepeda he is referring to another union and not to the SNTE, because in this one, unlike what he points out, the opposite is experienced for education workers. To begin with, there is no union and the buildings are empty shells. There is no bilateral treatment with the authorities in the states. There is no internal democracy or a true legitimate defense of the rights and achievements of the teaching profession. They simply abandoned union representation
.
He indicated that there are more and more voices within the SNTE that demand to deepen the democratic life of the union group and that they demand that there be even floor
in the process of electing leaders in the union sections, that continue to be carried out throughout the country with many irregularities, but, above all, with the shaving of the padrón
