Four commercial premises were sanctioned with fines of 5 thousand balboas each, by the Mayor’s Office of Colón, for poor disposal of waste, through the Department of Decoration and Cleanliness.
According to Mayor Alex Lee, the Tsunami clean-up operation has begun in Barrio Norte and Barrio Sur, where the driver of a Nevada company vehicle was caught dumping garbage in public areas, as well as the administration of the Terminal de buses from Colón, was fined for keeping a large amount of garbage in its surroundings.
Lee stressed that these operations will be carried out throughout the district and in 15 days the Tsunami cleanup operation will move to the Cristobal and Cristobal Este corregimiento.
He stressed that residents of buildings will be summoned to receive talks regarding the proper disposal of garbage at the corresponding time.
Mayor Lee indicated that the video surveillance system has helped catch people who throw garbage on the streets and in vehicles.
