The BCRA and the Conicet selected research projects on monetary issues

Producers who accessed the soybean dollar will not be able to buy CCL or MEP dollars

The Central Bank and the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (Conicet) selected six initiatives within the framework of the first joint call for Oriented Research Projects (PIO) launched by both organizations.

“These start a line of research focused on issues related to the purpose and functions of the Central Bank”reported the monetary authority in a statement.

PIOs will last for two years and its results will be published in the Economic Essays Magazine of the Central Bank.

The person in charge of evaluating the projects was an Ad Hoc Commission made up of representatives of the BCRA and Conicetwith federal representation and gender equity, and as a criterion “the transfer potential and the formation of multidisciplinary teams were valued”.

The job -first that the two official bodies carry out jointly- “It is part of the different academic activities that the Central Bank has been launching with the aim of promoting the development and dissemination of research on monetary, macroeconomic, financial and banking issues in our country,” he said.

The selected projects

The selected projects were “Financial flows of the non-financial corporate sector in Latin America. A firm-level analysis of their real and financial implications”with the direction of Rodrigo Pérez Artica; “Household indebtedness: an analysis with a gender and diversity perspective”, under the direction of Verónica Gago; Y “Indebtedness of Firms and the Banking System: Determinants of Financing and Structural Analysis with Complex Networks”supervised by Gabriel Montes Rojas.

were also chosen “Household income and financing strategies: impacts of Covid-19 during and after the pandemic”under the direction of Pedro Moncarz; “Multilateral financing of energy transition initiatives. Magnitude, regulations and conditionalities in a comparative key”supervised by Andrea Molinari, and “The monetary practices of Argentine men and women: between the persistence of cash and the expansion of electronic means of payment. Mapping and analysis of opposing trends”directed by Ariel Wilkis.
