The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) concluded this morning (4) the counting of 100% of the votes in the election for President of the Republic, after adding the last votes from abroad and from Amazonas.
The conclusion, however, does not change the final result, which was mathematically defined and has already been announced by the TSE since Sunday night (2), the same day that voters voted in the first round of elections.
Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva finished first, with 48.43% of the votes, equivalent to 57,259,504, while President Jair Bolsonaro, who is seeking re-election, took 43.2%, equivalent to 51,072. .345 votes. The two compete in the second round, scheduled for October 30.
According to the Electoral Justice, the relative delay in completing 100% of the calculation is due to the adoption of manual voting, on paper, in nine polling stations abroad – France, the United States and Portugal.
The city of Coari, in Amazonas, which is about 450 km from the capital Manaus, also had to adopt paper voting, in canvas ballot boxes, in one of its most isolated polling stations, which delayed the counting of votes.
In all cases, manual voting was adopted due to the malfunction of the available electronic voting machines or due to logistical problems that prevented the arrival of the equipment in time. The procedure is common to each election, according to the TSE.
This year, for the first time, the TSE made available on the internet all the printed ballot papers of all 472,075 polling stations. To access the image of the documents, just access the Electoral Justice results pageand click on the Urn Data tab.
