The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) decided to extend, until the beginning of from Decemberthe deadline for collecting information for the 2022 Census. The initial forecast was to finish the work by October 31st this year.
The institute maintained, however, the forecast of releasing the census data until the end from December.
According to IBGE Research Director Cimar Azeredo, only about half of Brazil’s estimated population has been censused from August 1st until now, so it was decided to extend the deadline for the work.
“The great difficulty that was encountered was the recruitment of census takers, so the IBGE is making important decisions to increase the possibility of recruitment and, with this, conclude the operation of the 2022 Demographic Census”, said Azeredo, in a video released yesterday (4) in IBGE website.
In the video, the Director of Research also asked the country’s mayors for help to ensure the success of census operations.
