Faced with the imminent return to presence without capacity, one of the fundamental factors for a quality education is the adaptation of schools and the creation of new classrooms.
(Students from the country return to full presence in 2022).
In this sense, The Ministry of National Education of Colombia, in its sector plan to 2022, indicated that, currently, the goal of construction of classrooms is 56.6% of the 17,984 that were set as a goal. In other words, to date it has been possible to reach a cumulative 10,170 rooms.
To carry out the 1,206 educational infrastructure projects, $ 4 billion has been used. Of these, $ 2.61 billion were provided by the Fund for Financing the Educational Infrastructure (FFIE). The rest, $ 1.47 billion, were contributed by the territorial entities.
This investment has allowed the implementation of 543 works between new schools and applications. In addition to the improvement of 663 rural schools. The Ministry of Education indicated that to date, they have delivered 213 new or adequate schools. In the case of rural education, 410 establishments have been improved.
Now, regarding the coverage of the School Feeding Program. Until 2021 the number of beneficiaries was increased to a total of 5,719,567 students. However, this progress does not meet the goal of the four-year term, which should be 7 million students taken in by the system. Which means that the compliance status is 81.7%.
(Back to school? Action, not polarization).
Another of the edges and challenges that this portfolio has for 2022, is the single day. The Ministry advances in this objective, reaching only 17.1% of students from official establishments. The goal for the four-year period was 24%.
However, in updating its sector plan, MinEducación reduced this objective. “Taking into account the situation derived from the pandemic situation caused by covid-19, it is expected to reach 20% of students from the official sector who benefit from the Program”, he pointed.
Regarding early childhood educational coverage, which continues to represent a challenge for the country, The Government indicated that, by 2022, 2 million children would be welcomed in the initial education model within the framework of comprehensive care.
To date, this objective is 79.8%, with a total of 1,596,431 children who are part of the system. Which means that this year 403,569 infants must be accommodated.
