The Municipal Council of the district of La Chorrera approved a moratorium period for the payment of taxes that includes the exemption of 100% of surcharges and interest, fines and others.
The municipal treasurer, René Hernández, revealed that the current debt with the municipality amounts to $6 million, for which they will apply the moratorium, which includes all types of taxpayers, whether plate, businesses, or those who have land with the municipality, as beneficiaries of 80% of the exemption from outstanding interest, if it pays the total amount owed to the municipality.
He said that taxpayers who have land or graveyards in the cemetery will benefit from the exemption of 100% of the interest or surcharges that are pending at the time of making their payment arrangements.
The moratorium began on October 1 and ends on October 31, 2022, during this time payment arrangements can be made or the entire debt can be canceled. Mayor Tomás Velazquez stressed that although this moratorium only covers the month of October, they will be carrying out evaluations for the coming months.
“It is a valuable opportunity that they will have for the month of October, we will be trying to see if it can be done in other months, but what is wanted is that they take advantage of October and cancel their debts,” he said.
