A man and a woman, both Haitian citizens, have been questioned this Monday in relation to the deaths of a landowner and two other people, an incident that occurred last weekend in the community Manuel Ranchof the Estero Hondo municipal district, in the province Puerto Plata.
Among those investigated is the partner of the alleged murderer, identified as Blanco or Rodolfo, a fugitive from the authorities.
Investigators interviewed the woman, whose name has not been released, through a Creole translator because she does not know how to speak Spanish.
The fugitive is identified as the main suspect in the crime of Juan Jose Soto Cornier, 72 years old, owner of Hacienda Josefina; his employee Gilberto Antonio Basilio, 64, and Mrs. Maritza Arelis Ovalle Ureña63, a friend of the landowner and who was supposedly carrying out remodeling work on the house.
Blanco or Rodolfo had been working as a milker for 15 days on the farm of Juan José Soto Cornier, uncle of the former Secretary of the Armed Forces, José Miguel Soto Jiménez.
The authorities understand that the foreigner returned to his country, so they asked Haiti for collaboration to achieve the arrest of the alleged killer.
The bodies of the three victims are in the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), for autopsy purposes. It is expected that in the next few hours they will be handed over to their relatives for burial.
The remains of Juan José Soto Cornier will be exhibited in Santiago, those of Maritza Arelis Ovalle Ureña in Santo Domingo and those of Gilberto Antonio Basilio in Manuel Ranch.
