Polianzoátegui explained that three men were arrested, the youngest of them 18 years old, while they were drinking alcoholic beverages inside a car in the company of a 16-year-old teenager, on the main street of El Carito, Libertad municipality (San Matthew). The case was placed under the order of the Eighth Prosecutor of the Public Ministry.
Three men who allegedly belong to a criminal organization dedicated to child prostitution were apprehended by members of the Anzoátegui State Police (Polianzoátegui) over the weekend.
The director of Polianzoátegui, chief commissioner Power Cano, identified those arrested as Fernando José Meléndez (18), Mauricio Alejandro Meléndez Rojas (21) and Oscar Antonio Caigua Martínez (49).

In just 20 days of August, the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc) reported that sand dismantled three gangs dedicated to human trafficking in the states of Táchira, Monagas and Anzoátegui. In this last state, two men were arrested who retained, prostituted and sold sexual material of young people, most of them in a situation of poverty.
The director of the Cicpc, Douglas Rico, said then that with the work of that body, “the illegal departure of some young women who are deceived to be taken” to other nations, where they would be “used as sexual instruments” has been avoided. .
Already in May, the authorities reported the dismantling of a child prostitution ring that operated within the renowned Las Pulgas market, located in the heart of the city of Maracaibo, Zulia state. In this operation, 25 people allegedly linked to this network were captured, including 18 men and seven women.
