The Risk Management Secretariat reported that since 00:20 this Friday, January 7, 2022 there is evidence of a “New eruption at Wolf volcano”, located in the Isabela Island, in Galapagos. The institution indicated that there are no populations near the volcano. For now, the ash clouds do not affect people either.
The event has also been confirmed by the Galapagos National Park Directorate (GNPD) and the Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School.
A photograph of the event was posted on the (DPNG) Twitter account, which was captured by the park rangers.
In the north of the Isabela island the pink iguanas inhabit (Conolophus marthae), a unique species in the world, where they share habitat with yellow guanas and the giant tortoises Chelonoidis becky.

Still, neither the Galapagos National Park nor the Ministry of the Environment have reported whether the eruption has affected the species, and neither has the Ministry of Tourism has notified if the process represents any risk to the operations of the sector. (DPV)
