The conventions established correspond to the areas of higher education, agriculture and public health, and were signed at the end of official talks led by Marrero Cruz and his Laotian counterpart, Phankham Viphavanc, as reported the agency Latin Press (PL).
The Cuban Premier arrived in the Asian country this Sunday for a visit that, according to the Island’s Foreign Ministry, seeks to strengthen and expand ties and cooperation between the two countries.

Marrero Cruz was received by the Minister of Education and Sports, Simma Laoong, and this Monday he is carrying out an extensive work program, which began with a visit to the monument to the unknown soldier, he specifies PL.
The Cuban delegation would also meet with the head of the National Assembly of Laos (Parliament), Saysomphone Phomvihane, and with the general secretary of the Popular Revolutionary Party (PPRL) and president of the country, Thongloun Sisoulith, the media outlet highlights.
Marrero’s visit was preceded, at the beginning of last September, by the one made by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver, which, according to the news release, made it possible to “corroborate the deep roots that sustain the more than 50 years of bilateral collaboration.
The agency recalls that last June Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel participated together with Thongloun Sisoulith, in. a videoconference, in which the island’s president highlighted “the high priority and importance of the ties of friendship and cooperation that unite the peoples, parties and governments of Cuba and Laos.”
During the dialogue, the Cuban president made some proposals to promote bilateral economic ties and expand cooperation in the fields of health, education, sports, the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology and agriculture, the report says.
Vietnam-Cuba business forum closes with the signing of trade agreements
Before arriving in Laos, Marrero Cruz and the delegation accompanying him made another official visit to Vietnamin which political and economic agreements were also signed with that Asian country.
Among the agreements reached during a business forum held in Hanoi, he highlighted the extension of the validity of the Thai Binh Green Power branch in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZED Mariel. In addition, a new agricultural-livestock project was presented in that area and alliances were established between the BioCubaFarma Business Group and the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) as local companies in these scientific branches.
