The President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, spoke this Sunday in Cologne once again about the matter of his former custodian, Alejandro Astesiano, who is accused of allegedly being part of a criminal group that sold false passports to people of Russian nationality, with operational from the 4th floor of the Executive Tower.
After attending the Agriculture Festival in Carmelo, the president was asked by the press about the possible replacement of Astesiano and replied that, in his opinion, “That figure is not needed.”
Although it is known that the President of the Republic always has an official guard that accompanies him, he asserted: “I am basically alone. I like to walk among people, I am not a person who walks with confidence.
“Maybe they were used to something else before; I like to walk alone. I have to have security for a protocol issue, but if it were up to me, I was alone.

He also spoke about the lack of security in the Plaza Independencia Executive Tower which, even though it is the seat of the Executive Branch, “everyone enters (and) no one was scanned or frisked. Simply, he was asked for his name.
“Because of people who act pathologically, extreme controls must be exercised,” the president continued.
