Candidates Marília Arraes (Solidariedade) and Raquel Lyra (PSDB) will contest the second round of the elections for governor of Pernambuco. Marília has 23.86% of the valid votes and Raquel has 20.77% of the valid votes.
So far, 98.63% of the polls have been counted.
The granddaughter of former Pernambuco governor Miguel Arraes, Marília, 38, began her militancy at a young age in the student movement at the Recife Faculty of Law. She is currently a federal deputy and was a councilor in Recife for three terms. She has already competed for mayor of Recife in 2020. Sebastião Oliveira (Avante), 54 years old, will be vice president.
A civil servant at the State Attorney General’s Office, 44 years old, Raquel holds a law degree from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), with a postgraduate degree in economic and business law. She was twice elected state deputy and was the state’s Secretary for Children and Youth. She was elected mayor of Caruaru (PE) in 2016 and re-elected in 2020. The deputy on the ticket will be deputy Priscila Krause (Citizenship), 44 years old.
