The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader) reported that, until September, the Fertilizers for Well-being Program delivered the input directly to 717,570 small-scale producers to allocate it to around 900,000 hectares in the nine states where it is year operates, reported.
In a statement, he pointed out that 274 thousand 606 tons of urea and DAP were delivered to small-scale producers of basic grains, with which the initial goal was exceeded both in terms of producers served and hectares served.
He added that this year, within the framework of the Package against Inflation and Famine (Pacic), the program promised to expand to nine entities in the country, serving at least 700,000 small-scale producers, a goal that has been exceeded.
He highlighted that 90 percent of the producers served are located in the three states with the highest degree of marginalization and 41 percent of the list of beneficiaries are women. In Guerrero, 313 thousand 588 producers were supported, in Chiapas 190 thousand 768 and in Oaxaca 147 thousand 232.
The program began in 2019 in that first entity, serving 278,547 producers of corn, beans and rice.
It was extended to Morelos, Puebla, and Tlaxcala, for farmers of corn, rice, and vegetables, and in the last entity, support was given to the cultivation of oats.
This year nine entities were included (Chiapas, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Durango, Nayarit and Zacatecas), with which it contributes to the production of priority crops in regions marked by their productive potential, degree of marginalization and regional importance
