Candidates Jerônimo (PT) and ACM Neto (União Brasil) will contest the second round of the elections for governor of the state of Bahia. Jerônimo has 49.34% of the valid votes and ACM Neto has 40.88% of the valid votes, with 99.18% of the votes counted.
Jerônimo Rodrigues Souza, 57, is a former Secretary of Education and a licensed professor at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS). Rodrigues has also held the position of National Secretary for Social Development and Special Advisor to the Planning Department and Secretary of Rural Development. Graduated in agronomic engineering, he was born in Aiquara (BA) and this will be his first contest in an election. Geraldo Júnior (MDB), 53 years old, will be the vice president.
Born in Salvador, ACM Neto, 43, was mayor of Salvador for eight years, between 2013 and 2020. He has also held the position of federal deputy. He is a lawyer, and the grandson of the former governor of Bahia and senator Antônio Carlos Magalhães (1927-2007). The deputy on the ticket will be the entrepreneur Ana Coelho (Republicans), 40 years old.
