Nicaragua defeated this Sunday, October 2 by 12-0 the ninth of Pakistan in the third day of the qualifying round for the 2023 World Baseball Classic, which takes place from Friday, September 30, in the Panamanian capital.
With the victory, the Nicaraguans eliminated Pakistan and by the way they made sure to play, next Tuesday, with the winner of the duel between Argentines and New Zealanders, the second duel of the day this Sunday.

Tuesday’s clash will give the winner the right to fight for the last place in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, next Wednesday, against the loser of the Brazil-Panama match.
The triumph of those led by Sandor Guido was based on a strong offense that linked 12 hits and an impeccable defense, which did not make mistakes in the seven innings that the match lasted.
The pinoleros made a couple of runs in the bottom of the first and second innings.
In the bottom of the first, a double by Cheslor Cuthbert led to the first hairline on Steven Leyton’s legs, then Cuthbert was driven home on an Elmer Reyes hit.

Osmán Gutiérrez took the victory and in three innings he only allowed one hit and struck out, while the defeat went to Muhammad Zohaib, the first of six Pakistani pitchers who paraded through the center of the diamond.
The best batters for Nicaragua were: Leyton Britton, 4-3, with two runs scored; Cherlor Cuthbert, 4-1, two runs scored and one RBI and Isaac Bernard, 4-1, one home run, one run scored and two RBIs. For the losers, Alex Khan stood out with the wood 3-2.
