MIAMI, United States. — The Justice 11J working group has registered 20 arrests in the protests that have taken place since last Friday in various provinces of the country.
“We are very concerned about the extensive deployment of repressive forces from the MININT and the FAR throughout the country in recent days and last night in particular. We have registered 20 arrests from September 30 to today, ”said the platform in social networks.
The information highlights that the repression has been greater in Havana, where thousands of people have taken to the streets in protests against the blackouts and shouting anti-government slogans.
Complaints received by Justice 11J indicate that 15 people were detained during the demonstrations this Saturday on Línea Street (Vedado) and Arroyo Arenas (Havana). There are also reports of arrests in the municipality of Baracoa, province of Guantánamo.
Similarly, there have been five arrests in previous days and other locations in the country.
Justice 11J indicates that until four in the afternoon today at least 14 people remained detained for their participation in the protests.
The platform also did not rule out that there are adolescents among the victims of the repression.
“They inform us that there may be adolescents among those detained for protesting in Arroyo Arenas. Outside the 6th unit of the PNR (Marianao) there are relatives of detainees waiting. We call on civil society and the accredited press to take an interest in the victims.”
Among those detained in the Havana protest was the activist Arián Cruz Álvarez, better known as Tata Poet.
“State Security, the Police and rapid response groups began to strike brutally,” said the young man about the repressive operation launched against the Line and F protesters.
Cruz Álvarez revealed that the beating was extensive against adolescents and minors, whose ages would range between 15 and 16 years.
“I was shocked when I saw that crazy beating. It was impressive. I had never seen such repression. It was brutal,” said the activist, whose testimony was shared on Twitter by Justicia 11J.
