Federation of government cooperatives visits communities affected by Fiona in Seibo

The Seibo.- Around 15 cooperative companies, grouped in the Federation of Cooperatives of the Dominican Government Sector (Fencoopsegud), in compliance with the principles of cooperativism, traveled this Saturday to the areas affected by Hurricane Fiona, in the province of Seibo, located to the east of the Dominican Republic.

With picks, shovels and wheelbarrows in hand, the associates of these solidarity economy companies, led by the president of the Federation, Lisandro Muñoz Jiménez, arrived in the aforementioned eastern province to show solidarity with the people who were impacted by Hurricane Fiona, already two weeks.

Muñoz took the opportunity to make a call to the other cooperatives to come to the aid of those affected by the atmospheric phenomenon that left thousands of people displaced as it passed through Dominican territory.

“It is the same feeling, helping the community, and that is what makes us different from cooperative members, which is why we encourage the participation of cooperatives from other social and solidarity economy institutions to support these communities, which are going through right now for these difficult times,” Muñoz said.

The representatives of the different solidarity economy entities made a descent in the communities, carrying out an extensive cleaning day on the banks of the Seibo and Soco rivers

The cooperative members were received by the mayor of Seibo Leo Francis Zorrilla, who thanked the solidarity expressed from the Dominican cooperative movement, through Fencoopsegud.

“We receive with great joy, with great joy this type of activity, support, gesture, collaboration for the benefit of our people, in this way we are demonstrating our commitment to development, progress and the well-being of our people” he pointed out skunk.
