Buena Vista celebrated International Coffee Day with the export of 19,600 kilos of grain to the Netherlands

Considered the capital of coffee, Buena Vista celebrated the international day of this grain with the export of 19,600 kilos of green coffee to the Netherlands. The municipality has 358 hectares of production distributed in three of its five districts.

Currently this grain moves the economy of the municipality that exports the Netherlands and the United States. One of the peculiarities of the crop is that it is produced under forestry systems on the slopes of the Amboró park, making it environmentally friendly.

“Due to its high quality, today it is exported to countries such as the United States and the Netherlands. The last shipment was made on September 8 to the Netherlands, a total of 19,600 kilos of green coffee, with the last production of the year by coffee growers,” he reported. Oswaldo Navia, Commercial Manager of Sicirec Bolivia.

Francisco Mamani, producer, explained that around 50 producers from this municipality formed the Association of Forest Agroecological Producers ‘El Chasqui’ (Apafech). The members of the organization, after several trainings, achieved a quality of more than 82 points in the cup, which allows them to export.

“This was my dream and it has come true, I have not given up, I knew this was going to happen,” said producer Eduardo Choque. excited while loading the coffee to the trucks that would carry out the transfer to the port from where the departure to the Netherlands began.

The ‘Capital of Coffee’ has 358 hectares of production distributed in three of the five districts that the municipality has, which are located in the Espejitos, Carmen Surutu and Huaytú communities, covering 44% of the total department.

“A hectare of coffee gives you an economic movement of 3,000 dollars. And if the producer exports, this profit is doubled, That is why we are looking to implement a coffee processing plant so that we can compete with coffees from other countries,” informed the director of Productive Development of the municipality of Buena Vista, Ambrosio Vallejos.
