Voters from some sections of the largest polling place in the city of Rio de Janeiro faced queues this morning (2). The Expo Mag convention center (formerly Sul América), in the Cidade Nova district, in the central region, concentrates 12,083 voters.
When the report of Brazil Agency was there, around 10am, there were queues in several sections. Neide Maria complained about the delay in voting. “I stood for a long time, waiting. It took a long time, over 30 minutes,” she said.
Juliana Gregório said that she voted quickly, but her mother, registered in another section of the convention center, took about 1 hour in line. “It’s the first time that, in the morning, you’ve had these lines to vote,” she said.
In Ana Lucia Ferreira’s section there were lines, but she said it didn’t take long to vote. “There were a lot of people, but it was moving fast. It took about 15 minutes. Every year we come to vote, it’s a serious commitment”.
The municipality of Rio de Janeiro has 5 million voters38.8% of the electorate in Rio de Janeiro, out of 12.9 million, and 3.2% of the national total, 156 million.
