Today, transportation by regular buses and the rapid transit (BRT) bus system is free for all cariocas. Services will be free between 6 am and 8 pm.

Safety
To ensure the security of the elections, the Military Police will employ around 16,000 police officers extraordinarily to patrol public roads, polling places, escort the polls and security of buildings that will house the institutions responsible for the election.
The Military Police’s planning provides for the policing of the 4,844 polling places by the area battalions. The special election plan starts at 8:00 a.m. Saturday and extends until the night of Sunday. Among the duties of the military police are escorting the ballot boxes to the polling stations; security of polling places before, during and after the election, and monitoring for the return of the polls to the TRE. In 85 polling places, considered sensitive, the transport of ballot boxes will be done using the corporation’s armored vehicles.
In Operação Segurança Presente, all 42 bases in 21 municipalities will work with fixed personnel. In all, more than 500 police officers were assigned. About 2,000 Civil Police agents are scheduled to act in carrying out a peaceful election. The agents will be alert to the occurrence of electoral crimes, violent demonstrations, fights, threats, coercion of criminal factions to exit the polls and road blocks.
According to the state government, four aircraft will fly over the territory and generate real-time images for the monitoring center installed at the Integrated Command and Control Center (CICC), which, in turn, will be interconnected with the Ministry of Justice. and Public Security, in Brasília and with the TRE. the expressways to haven reinforced patrolling, with the use of specialized units.
There will also be reinforcement in the security of the prison units, through a special scale of the penal police officers. In addition, the Undersecretary of Intelligence of the Penitentiary System, also with special staff, will monitor, in real time, possible intra and extramural actions that may cause some kind of embarrassment to the security of the elections.
Armed forces
As in past elections, the Eastern Joint Command (CCj L), formed by soldiers from the Brazilian Navy, the Brazilian Army and the Brazilian Air Force, will act in the Voting and Counting Guarantee (GVA 2022) in the state of Rio de Janeiro. of January. The military must collaborate with the security and logistics of the elections.
According to CCj L, approximately 8,000 military personnel and 860 vehicles, 54 armored vehicles, 8 vessels and 5 helicopters of the Armed Forces will be able to be employed in 92 municipalities, 166 electoral zones and 4,655 polling places in the state. The numbers are similar to previous elections. The employment of CCj L troops will occur in a cooperative manner with other public security agencies and bodies and under the coordination of TRE-RJ.
At the request of the Electoral Court, street sweepers from the Municipal Urban Cleaning Company (Comlurb), who helped yesterday (1st) when transporting the electronic voting machines to the polling places, they will now collect them after the voting is over. All the street sweepers who will participate in this work watched a training video with information and guidance on the proper way to transport electronic voting machines.
