Argentina was re-elected as a member of the Permanent Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) at the 41st Assembly of the world’s highest aviation organization, in which 193 countries participate and takes place in Montreal, Canada.
The country renewed its seat in the largest executive body of ICAO with the vote of 148 of the 171 voting States, being the Latin American country with the most votes in its group.

“With this vote of confidence that we received from the Assembly, we reaffirm our commitment to continue contributing to the development of international standards for civil aviation,” said Paola Tamburelli, head of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) and head of the delegation.

Tamburelli had already been elected as vice president of the Assembly, an appointment that was made at the proposal of the United Arab Emirates, who read her curriculum in front of the entire assembly, which was approved unanimously.
Some 2,000 ministers and senior government officials representing 193 States, as well as regional and global organizations from the air transport industry, participate in this Assembly, which takes place every three years.
ICAO is an agency of the United Nations Organization created in 1944 by the Convention on International Civil Aviation to study the problems of international civil aviation and promote unique regulations and standards in world aeronautics.
