Occupation increases in the labor market, but income falls, says IBGE

In the month of August, micro and small enterprises (SMEs) were responsible for more than 70% of the total jobs created in the country, according to a survey by the Brazilian Service for Support of Micro and Small Enterprises (Sebrae) based on data from the General Registry. of Employed and Unemployed (Caged). Of balance of 278.6 thousand hires in the period, 199,600 formal jobs were created by these companies.Micro and small companies created more than 70% of August's jobs

“They are the segment with the best conditions to respond to the challenge of creating jobs in the country. August was the eighth consecutive month that small businesses had a positive balance”, pointed out the president of Sebrae, Carlos Melles. He pointed out that the monthly average of jobs generated by small businesses, since the beginning of the year, is over 160 thousand.

In the accumulated result for the year, the country generated 1.8 million jobs, with micro and small companies responsible for 1.3 million (71.7%). The medium and large, in turn, created 400 thousand jobs, which corresponds to 21.5% of the total.

According to the survey, the service sector of micro and small companies concentrates most of the hiring. There were 96,200 in August, which represents 35%. The commerce and civil construction sectors occupy the second and third positions, respectively, in the creation of jobs among MSEs.

Melles explains that this proportion between the types of businesses and the vacancies available is repeated. “In 2021, small businesses were responsible for eight out of ten new job openings. This year, we are maintaining a monthly average of over 70%,” he recalled.

He also highlighted that in the first year of the pandemic, the country had a total negative balance of 191,455 hires, but among micro and small companies the balance was positive. “[Foram] more than 56 thousand jobs. The bad result is attributed to medium and large companies, which were responsible for -274,220 jobs.”

For the president of Sebrae, this trend of more hiring in MSEs should continue. Melles believes that new credits available through the National Support Program for Micro and Small Businesses (Pronampe) can alleviate the bills of this segment.

“Allowing micro and small companies to breathe a little better and make the necessary investments to increase their productivity and, consequently, continue being the main responsible for generating jobs in the country”, he evaluates.
