Cuba sends doses of Covid-19 Soberana Plus vaccine to Nicaragua

Cuba today sent a shipment of doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, Soberana Plus, to Nicaragua in order to complete the immunization scheme for pediatric ages in that country.

This was announced in a message on its Twitter account, the Finlay Vaccine Institute (IFV), the institution where this product was developed, which is applied to adults and children between two and 18 years of age in a heterologous scheme of two doses of Sovereign 02 plus one of Plus.

“Today doses of life are leaving for Nicaragua. Finlay is proud that the children of that sister country complete their vaccination schedule with the Cuban vaccine #SoberanaPlus, “said a message from that center on the social network.

Soberana Plus is also applied as a reinforcement to administer it in the convalescent population of Covid-19.

Since October 2021, the Central American nation joined other countries such as Iran, Venezuela and Vietnam, which already administer vaccines created by Cuban scientific institutions to their population to face the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The Nicaraguan government has since announced that the agreement between the two countries includes seven million doses of the immunogens from the Caribbean island, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus, as well as Abdala, developed by the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) and first Latin American vaccine.

According to the vaccination plan of the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus will be inoculated voluntarily to minors between 2 and 17 years of age.
