The plenary of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) decided today (29), unanimously, to maintain the decision that rejected the candidacy of Agnelo Queiroz (PT) for the post of federal deputy for the Federal District.
The court judged an appeal filed by the defense of the candidate, who is a former governor of the DF, against the decision taken on September 12 by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE) of the DF that rejected the registration for ineligibility.
When judging the case at this Thursday’s session, the TSE confirmed Agnelo’s impediment to participate in the election due to a conviction for administrative improbity, which resulted in the suspension of political rights.
According to the court, the candidate is out of the running and must suspend the election campaign. The merits of the action have not yet been judged.
During the trial, the lawyers defended the legality of the registration of candidacy and equal treatment among candidates in view of the expiry of the period of Agnelo’s ineligibility three days after the first round.
