Cuba identified nine infections due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus this Wednesday, hours after the powerful Hurricane Ian crossed its western end, from where no new cases were reported this day.
The Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) offered the record of five provinces thanks to the processing of 1195 samples, in a day in which most of the country is still no electrical service.

In the previous day (Tuesday), the Minsap had only notified infections in four provinces, for a total of six cases.
The discharges notified this day totaled 15.
Among today’s cases, six correspond to contacts of confirmed cases, in two individuals the cause of contagion was not specified and only one was imported.
In total, 79 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 at midnight on Wednesday. 37 were only suspected of having acquired the disease, while 42 were confirmed active cases.
By age ranges, four included those under 20 years of age, two belong to the range between 20 and 39 years, one from 40 to 59 and two were over 60.
The Minsap reported two seriously bedridden, while the fatalities of COVID-19 remain at 8,530, for which the lethality is 0.77% in Cuba.
