As part of the work associated with the Mayan Train project carried out by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), its director, Diego Prieto, announced research and rehabilitation actions in two archaeological zones in Quintana Roo: Ichkabal and Paamul II. In parallel, restoration actions will be carried out in the commercial complex of Moral Reforma, an ancient Mayan city that had its splendor in the 7th and 8th centuries of our era.

In a conference, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador celebrated that all litigation against the work in section 5 was finally settled: This section was the one that cost us. There are no more protections, that is, all the protections were won, the pseudo-environmentalists were wrong, because here are the interests of groups. That man who was (a member) of the Court (José Ramón) Cossío, Claudio X. González, all those who promoted the amparos.

Prieto presented INAH’s advances and highlighted that the 450 archaeologists and 900 professionals will now focus on sections 4 and 5, mainly, since between 1 and 3 the excavation works have already been completed. In number four there is progress of 75 percent, and in number five, only 10 percent.

Regarding the recovery of materials, 26 thousand 301 real estate elements, buildings, walls, floors, squares and foundations of residential areas have already been registered, which provides very important data on the construction and urban systems of the ancient Mayan populations.

In addition, among others, 1,411 relatively intact movable goods have been recovered, including metates, ceramic objects, stone figures, 484 complete vessels, 450 bones and 608,489 ceramic fragments.

To a specific question about the progress in Campeche, the President estimated the investment associated with the Mayan Train at 100 billion pesos: There is no work in the world like this, that is, to the pride of Mexicans. I respect the citizens and the Chinese government a lot, but they always set an example of great works, right?
