For no reason are we going to lose sovereignty due to the decisions made by the Government, because our main objective is the reliability of the system.“, he claimed.

He also commented that it should clarify the total gas reserves, because if we stay in 6 or 7 years of gas, who has to guarantee reliability? Us”.

Along these lines, Ruiz stated that importing is not losing reliability, but rather implies that the sector is strengthened.

(See: Gas production fell in July and oil production rose compared to 2021).

Likewise, he explained that “the transition must be a fact, not an idea”, and that is why it is necessary for the Government to seek to really diversify the matrix, for which Options such as geothermal, biomass and even tidal power are being analyzed.

(See: The importance of the use of gas for the energy transition).

Regarding the drop in electricity prices, Ruiz pointed out that It was not the Ministry of Mines that said that energy prices would fall in November, but the unions.

According to what was expressed by the Vice Minister, the Government is doing its share of the work and “now it’s up to the companies to do their thing“.
