A total of 460 weapons recovered in the province of Panama, through voluntary surrender during the weapons exchange program for vouchers or bonds exchangeable in the ‘Pacificando Mi Barrio’ supermarkets, were destroyed this Thursday morning in the incinerator, located at the headquarters of the National Police.
During the act, the Minister of Public Security, Juan Pino, the directors of the estates and representatives of the Organization of American States and the European Union in Panama participated.
165 revolvers, 145 pistols, 37 rifles, 26 shotguns, 11 rifles, 1 carbine, 3 sub-machine guns, 4 nipples and 68 pellet guns were destroyed.
The security authorities reported that to date 626 weapons have been recovered and 25,277 weapons have been destroyed in the 27 ceremonies carried out since the program began in December 2021.
