While the occupations of schools in the City of Buenos Aires multiply, demanding better food and against the mandatory labor practices established by the Buenos Aires Ministry of Education, Hannibal Fernandez He questioned the actions of the City Government.
This, given that the administration of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta sent police officers to the homes of the students who carry out the raids in the schools, which was criticized for the security minister, Hannibal Fernandez.
“The problems of the schools are of the City, not of the National Government. Personally, being responsible for four security forces, I would not allow that to happenbut it is my vision, each one in his administration of government will act as he feels”, indicated Hannibal Fernandez.
The president clarified that, despite the fact that he does not agree, he does not judge the position of the Buenos Aires government: “I do not judge or sanction much less. In addition, I believe that the students have enough entity to make known what their concerns are, the which should be treated as such. I’d love to see it run that way. What does the City do? I can’t tell you.”
The president presented his position on the recent events that occurred, within the framework of the student protests in at least 12 schools in the City, at a press conference, after the Cabinet meeting that took place this Wednesday ended.
For their part, parents and organizations in defense of human rights have also criticized the actions of the Buenos Aires government and denounce that the students receive intimidation for carrying out the protest.
Despite this, the students assure that they will continue with their measure of force: “We are going to continue with the claims, we are not going to remove the posters from the entrance door of the school and we are going to continue fighting for public policies”.
What does the City Government say?
Given the criticism received from both the security minister As well as from different organizations, for sending police officers to the students’ homes, the Minister of Education of the City, Soledad Acuña, explained that the Buenos Aires Government is not involved in this decision, but that the case is in the hands of the Attorney General.
“The Ministry of Education receives a list and, as indicated in the protocol, passes it to the Rights Council and then to the Attorney General, who makes the criminal complaint. We are not involved in the subsequent process.”
